Extras Frequently Asked Questions

What are Extras?
Extras are visual elements that can be added to G-Force, SoftSkies, and WhiteCap that enhance or extend your visual experience. Share your creations with others! Each type of Extras has a different purpose; read about each type to see what it does. Look at the more thorough descriptions below for more information.

What are G-Force Screenshots?
When you watch G-Force, what you see on the screen at any one time is a combination of several different visual effects, or "configs." Sometimes the current combination is so beautiful, that you can't help but want to preserve this moment. You can do so by pressing the screenshot key in G-Force Gold or Platinum (‘) or the screenshot button on the Toolbar. Share your screenshots here!

What are G-Force Background Images?
Background Images (also known as Sprites) are images that sit in the background and seamlessly blend with the G-Force visual effects. To use a Background Image, just place it into your G-Force|Sprites folder and access it using the Toolbar (or let G-Force bring it up at random automatically).

What are SoftSkies Formations?
Formations are small (128x128 pixels) images that "appear" in the clouds that flow by in the overall sky. You can have fun trying to guess which object the clouds are taking the form of!

What are SoftSkies Living Images?
Living Images are foreground images with a transparent sky, such that clouds can flow "through" the image. To use a Living Image, just place it in your SoftSkies|Configs|Living Images|User Images folder. For information on creating your own Living Images, please see this SoftSkies FAQ entry.

What are SoftSkies Skies?
If you create a neat Sky using the Skies Designer, you can take a screenshot of this Sky and share it with other users, who can bring it up within SoftSkies by simply clicking on its thumbnail in the "Online Extras" menu item!

What are WhiteCap Screenshots?
When you watch WhiteCap, what you see on the screen at any one time is a combination of a WaveShape, a ColorScheme, and a Background. Sometimes the combination you see is so cool that you want to save it--press the screenshot key in WhiteCap Gold or Platinum (‘) or use the menu to do so. Share your screenshots here!

I want to submit an Extra. What are the different Extra file types?
Please see our submission guidelines for more information.

Why can't I share screenshots made with other programs?
In order to ensure a quality experience for our users, when a screenshot is taken in our various visuals, it contains information on what visual effects ("configs") compose that visual combination. For example, a G-Force screenshot tells you what ColorMap, WaveShape, and FlowField are in it. Therefore, in order to include this information, screenshots must be taken from within the product (with the ‘ key, the Toolbar/menu, etc.).

What are G-Force ColorMaps, WaveShapes, and Flowfields?
Please see the How G-Force Works page for more information.

What if I have other questions?
Please see the G-Force FAQ, the SoftSkies FAQ, or the WhiteCap FAQ for answers to most common questions.
